Montclair
Can a town be all things to all people? Montclair comes close. A picturesque community with a quick commute to Manhattan, Montclair is a cultural hub offering unparalleled energy and engagement all at your fingertips.
Home to sports fields and playgrounds, manicured parks and miles of hiking trails, public gardens and private backyards, sledding hills and town pools, Montclair’s expansive outdoor life is surpassed only by its “downtowns” where you can wander among countless restaurants and cafes, boutiques and bookstores. Oh, and the coffee shops! At 9 Carolin Road you're in the middle of it all!
Our magnet schools are a national model and our adult school rivals the offerings at many colleges. And speaking of colleges, we have Montclair State right up the hill with an indoor ice-rink and a minor-league baseball stadium.
From Montclair’s world-class jazz festival and film festival to the weekly knitting circle in the park, from our indie film house and renowned art museum to the free live music on Church Street on warm summer nights, we are a community of people who like to discover new things and share our passions. But mostly, we are a community that thrives on supporting each other and making everyone feel welcome.
Montclair is a big town that feels like a small town, a suburb that feels like a city and a home base that feels like a vacation.
We think you’re going to love living here.
Things to do while you're in town!
Visit the playgrounds at Brookdale Park and Watchung School
Have a cuppa at Bluestone or Marcel ... grab a bagel at Sunrise Bagels. Browse in the bookstore in Watchung Plaza. Stop by the hardware store and pick up those batteries you need and inquire about this winter's firewood delivery for the outdoor fire pit they can also sell you.
Head up the hill to the Yogi Berra Museum. Bring your skates and hit the ice at Floyd Hall Arena - or rent skates there! Then, drive over to the Montclair Art Museum to check out the latest exhibit. If you need a geographic reference, drive up to the 9-11 memorial overlook at Eagle Rock Reservation and wave to your favorite city skyline. The sunrises from up there will absolutely take your breath away.
We have many more suggestions. Chances are if you like to do it, we have it right here!
